Are there showers available after the race?
Yes, there are showers available at UPEI Sports Centre (CARI) for participants to use after their race.
What is the weather like in Charlottetown in mid October? The surrounding waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the north and the Northumberland Straits to the south moderate the Island’s weather. Early autumn in the Island is characterized as clear and bright. Mornings are usually cool, while afternoons could be quite warm. Typically the weather on race day has been between 5 - 15°C. Can I use the MRSB Marathon to qualify for Boston? Yes, you can use the Guardian Marathon to qualify for the Boston Marathon. The course is a certified Boston Marathon qualifier. Where/when do I pick up my race kit and timing chip? You can pick up your timing chip and race kit at The Confederation Centre of the Arts (145 Richmond Street, downtown Charlottetown) which is race headquarters during Marathon Weekend. For directions to the Confederation Centre click here. Race Headquarters will be open for registration and the expo for the following dates/times: Friday, October 15th – 4:00pm – 7:00pm Saturday, October 16th– 10:00am – 7:00pm Please note there will be NOregistration or race kit pick up available on race day – Sunday, October 17th.If you are unable to make it on Friday or Saturday please make alternate arrangements for someone else to pick up your race kit and timing chip. What events are specifically for walkers? We have many events which are for walkers only including:
Half Marathon Walk
Nordic Walk Half Marathon
10K Walk
Nordic Walk 10K
5K Walk
All walkers will be timed and ranked according to age/sex categories. When registered in a walking category please keep in mind that running/jogging is not permitted and will result in disqualification. It is ok to walk in a running category but you cannot run if entered in a walking category.
If I need to cancel my registration, what is the process? If you are unable to participate in your registered race we will transfer your registration to the following year if notified before October 8th. Unfortunately we are unable to provide a refund. How can I register for one of the races? Registration is easy:
- Register online by clicking the registration link and race category.
- Print off our registration form available under the registration page and fax it to (902) 892-5486 or mail it to: PEI Marathon, 91 Water Street, Charlottetown PE C1A 1A5. Please note that a processing fee of $2.50 will apply to all mailed/faxed registrations.
- Onsite registration is available on October 15th & 16th at race headquarters (Confederation Centre of the Arts).
What are the routes like? The routes can be described as mainly flat and fast. In designing the full marathon route, we wanted to let runners sample the different terrains and vistas the Island has to offer. Marathoners will be running from the north shore of the Island to the capital city, Charlottetown on the south shore. Half-marathoners, 10K and 5K participants will start their race in downtown Charlottetown making a loop through the city. The Province House will beckon all runners and walkers to the finish line.

What other events are happening on Marathon Weekend? As part of Marathon Weekend the whole family can participate in the following activities:

For full schedule information please click here. Is there a registration cutoff date? Online registration as well as fax/mail in registration closes on Wednesday, October 13th. If you miss registration before these times registration is available at race headquarters on October 15th & 16th. During the race is there a secure location I can leave my personal belongings? Yes, we will have a secure area at the Confederation Centre on race day to store personal belongings for participants. Baggage Tags will be attached to your personal belongings with your name and bib number. The Confederation Centre is located at the finish line and you must have your race bib as identification to claim your belongings. I registered for one race but would like to switch to another, what do I do? Your registration can be changed up to the time you pick up your kit on October 15th. If you are switching to a category which is more expensive you will be required to pay the difference. However if you are switching to a category which is less expensive no refund will be provided, sorry. To change your category please email info@princeedwardislandmarathon.com before October 13th, 2010. If you decide to change categories after this date it must be done at race headquarters when you register.
Please be reminded, there are no refunds for any registration, however you will be able to transfer your registration to 2011 if notified before October 8, 2010. I would like to volunteer, how do I register? We require over 300 volunteers to make Marathon Weekend a success. Please click the following link to sign up Volunteer Registration. What events are youth eligible to participate in? The Ben's Smart 5K Run & Walk takes place on Sunday, October 17th at the same start line as the 10K & Half Marathon. The Kids Spud Run is also a free & fun event which is a 1km run around the race track for ages 4 – 14. Youth can register for the other categories as long as a parent or guardian will be running with them. What accommodations are available for the weekend? Please click the Hotel & Travel Information link for additional information. Where can I purchase official PEI Marathon merchandise? You can get your official PEI marathon merchandise during the expo at our booth. We have a variety of crested items which make a great souvenir or gift. Can I use the PEI Marathon to raise money for a charity? The PEI Marathon is a non-profit event, however if you choose to use this event as part of a personal fundraising initiative that is not a problem. Will there be available parking at the start line? At the finish line? Yes, there is plenty of free parking both at the start and finish line. At the start line, parking is available around the Brackley Beach change facilities; at the finish line, there are three parkades near the Confederation Centre. We highly encourage everyone to park at the parkades instead of the street. (The Parkades are free on weekends!) Will there be transportation provided to the Marathon start line in Brackley? There will be several buses taking marathon participants from the Confederation Centre to the start line which all leave at 7am, sharp! Transportation is only available to Marathon and Corporate Relay(1st Leg) Participants. Some hotels, such as the Delta Prince Edward, Rodd Charlottetown, and the Best Western are within walking distance to the Confederation Centre. If you require transportation please indicate this on your registration form as well as sign your name on the transportation sheet when you register on-site.
